How do Naava's green walls and furniture purify air?

Naava's smart green walls and furniture biologically purify indoor air from harmful chemicals. Naava's operation is based on NASA's scientifically proven method, which uses plant root microbes to break down air pollutants.

98% of plants' air purification happens in their roots rather than leaves. The core of Naava's function lies in active air circulation and a soilless growing medium, which is ideal for microbes that break down air pollutants in plant roots. We therefore utilize plant microbes in the same way wastewater treatment plants purify water. This process is called biofiltration.

Why do Naava's green walls and furniture have remote monitoring?

Unlike traditional aesthetic green walls, Naava is an active smart green wall that purifies air. It does this through nature, automation, and active air circulation. Because continuous air flow passes through Naava, the plants are put under stress. Plants pushed to the limits of their air-purifying capacity need the right amount of water, nutrients, light, and rest at the right time. Automation and artificial intelligence, together with a cloud service, take care of optimizing these conditions, enabling remote monitoring and control of the smart green wall's functions. In addition, we ensure that the air produced by Naava is as natural and pleasant as possible for space users. Measurements are also taken of the surrounding space so that, for example, humidity levels are suitable for the space.

 

Where are Naava's green walls and furniture manufactured?

Naava is Finnish design and the frames of our products are manufactured at a factory in Sievi, Finland. The plants come from our own greenhouse in the Netherlands.

 

What plants are used in Naava green walls?

Naava's smart green wall grows common houseplants such as heartleaf philodendron, aralia, and dracaena. The species are selected based on allergen-friendliness, air-purifying efficiency, and durability. Many of the plant species we use are on NASA's list of best air-purifying plants. We have studied over 120 different plant species over the years and continuously test more. Our air-purification technology creates demanding conditions for plants, so only a few selected species are approved for Naava systems. Nature is unpredictable, but with technology we aim to create stable and safe growing environments for our plants.

Our plant selection includes about 10 species, from which our plant production team creates impressive plant compositions for each Naava.

Food plants cannot be grown in Naava green walls.

How much electricity does Naava consume?

The cost of Naava's electricity consumption is estimated to be around €1/month.

What kind of space can I install a green wall in?

Naava only needs a power outlet - nothing else. Naava should not be placed directly under an air ventilation exhaust vent, and the room temperature must not drop below 16°C.

Can I get a green wall made to custom dimensions?

Yes! Naava provides green walls that are fully tailored to your exact measurements.

Our green walls can be built to fit the space, from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, or even designed to wrap around corners and columns.

Do green walls use real plants?
We can create a solution made entirely of real plants, or also combine moss and artificial plants to achieve the final result according to your vision.

What are Naava’s potted plant products?

Naava’s potted plant products are soilless indoor plants planted in a hydroculture growing medium.

Plant species are always selected based on the season, the design and size of the pot, and the intended placement of the plant. This ensures that each plant thrives and looks good in its designed environment.

The plants are delivered in high-quality self-watering pots that ensure a consistent water supply and make plant care easier. Depending on the size of the pot, the plants can be placed either on the floor or on a surface, making them a versatile and stylish interior element for different spaces.

Naava offers a wide selection of pot options, and we also provide custom-designed, unique planters tailored to your space.

What spaces are Naava’s potted plants suitable for?

Naava’s potted plants are suitable for a wide range of indoor environments, such as offices, lobbies, meeting rooms, and other lounge and workspaces, as well as schools, public spaces, and customer areas.

To ensure plant health, the room temperature must be at least 16°C.

The plants require either natural daylight or artificial lighting with an intensity of at least 700 lux. Our experts will help you determine the appropriate lighting.

Are Naava’s potted plants safe and allergy-friendly?

Naava’s potted plants are carefully selected. The plant species are chosen for their durability and suitability for indoor environments.

The plants are grown in a hydroculture medium, which is a soilless alternative for plant cultivation. This reduces allergy risks associated with traditional soil, such as dust and unwanted microbes. The soilless growing medium makes potted plants a clean solution that is well suited for various indoor spaces.

What are Naava moss walls?

Naava moss walls are interior design elements made from natural materials, designed for indoor use. They offer an easy way to bring a touch of natural greenery into spaces where natural light is not available.

Moss walls are maintenance-free and do not require watering or sunlight. Thanks to a durable preservation treatment, the moss retains its natural color and softness for years. Moss walls enhance the comfort of a space and improve acoustics by naturally reducing noise.

Is the moss used in moss walls alive?

The moss is a natural material, but it is not living and does not grow. It has been specially treated to preserve its natural softness and color without watering or light. It looks and feels natural but does not require care like living plants.

Do Naava moss walls require maintenance or watering?

No, moss walls are almost completely maintenance-free and should not be watered. The moss is treated with a preservative that allows it to maintain its appearance without traditional plant care. It thrives best in normal indoor humidity levels (30–70%). Because of this, Naava moss walls are an excellent complement to Naava green walls.

Can we add our own logo to moss walls?

Yes! A custom logo can be integrated into moss walls as a 3D-printed element.

What is an artificial plant?

Artificial plants are man-made plants with a realistic appearance, but they do not require maintenance like real plants.

Do artificial plants require maintenance or care?

The most important part of maintaining artificial plants is regular dust removal. Use an anti-static cloth, a feather duster, or a dry or slightly damp cloth for this. Artificial plants are very easy to use and remain beautiful for a long time.

Can I maintain my green wall and plants myself?

Naava products are always sold together with a maintenance service. In public environments, such as company premises or public spaces, the number of plants is often large and there is no clearly assigned person responsible for them. By keeping your plants under a maintenance service, we ensure that they remain healthy and beautiful.

We want your plants to always look their best and for plant loss to be minimal. For this reason, plant maintenance is always carried out by professionals.

If you wish, you can remove dead or yellowing leaves yourself using scissors.

How are Naava’s air-purifying green walls and green furniture maintained?

Naava Service is responsible for the professional installation and maintenance of Naava units. A maintenance agreement ensures that Naavas remain healthy and that their air-purifying performance stays optimal year-round. During installation, each Naava is connected to a remote monitoring system and prepared to operate under AI control. Maintenance is always carried out at regular intervals and whenever needed. During each service visit, the maintenance team tidies the plants and ensures the correct functioning of the smart green wall.

Customers can choose between premium maintenance and standard maintenance. The premium service includes regular refilling of water tanks. Some customers prefer to handle this themselves or include it in their cleaning service agreement, in which case a standard maintenance contract is sufficient.

What does green interior design mean and what does it include?

Naava has specialists in green interior design for office spaces, learning environments, and other public areas. Our interior architects create visualizations based on your wishes, in collaboration with our plant experts.

We support both designers in planning and implementing green interior concepts for their projects, as well as space users designing their own environments, in creating comfortable and green indoor spaces.

How much do green walls, plants, and maintenance cost?

Naava offers several purchasing models, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your needs.

Our most common model is the all-inclusive Nature as a Service (NaaS) model: one monthly fee includes both the products and maintenance. You can choose a contract period of either 36 or 60 months.

Alternatively, you can purchase the products outright, in which case you only pay a monthly maintenance fee going forward (excluding maintenance-free products, such as moss walls).
