Who Wants to Breathe in Xylene, Toluene, or Ammonia?

To be honest - probably no one.

Xylene, toluene and ammonia are chemical substances which are released in the air by artificial construction and decoration materials and even electronic devices.

Xylene
is used as solvent and diluent in paints, varnishes and glues. Repeated and prolonged exposure to xylene vapor might cause health symptoms such as fatigue, headache, concentration problems and irritability.

Toluene is used in the same way as xylene. In addition to the above-mentioned health issues it is classified as category 3 in a list of dangerous substances. It means that toluene is harmful to human reproduction.

Ammonia is released in the indoor air by paints, varnishes, detergents and wet concrete. High levels of ammonia is likely to increase the adverse effects of dust weakening the respiratory tract defensing mechanisms.

100 times more efficient air cleaning with Naava

An American research found houseplants which break down these harmful chemicals. The research compared 50 different houseplants and their ability to remove the harmful chemicals from indoor air. Take a further look at those plants here.

Our smart green wall is full of these air purifying plants. The most radical difference between Naava and normal house plants lies in our turboponic growing method.

Combining aero- and hydroponics we achieve 100 times more efficient air cleaning compared to normal house plants. Impure indoor air is sucked through the plants root system where all the chemicals are broken down by the microbes living in the roots.
